About the Midwest

As a Nebraska native who attends college in Iowa, I must confess that I am a midwesterner. While I am proud to be associated as such, I know that my upcoming relocation to London will put my adaptation skills to the test.

Here are some fun facts about my current home from various online destinations:

The temperature in the Midwest states can range from -40°F in the Dakotas and Minnesota to 120°F in Southern Missouri.

The Midwest includes the following 12 states: : Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Midwesterners are praised as being open, friendly, and straightforward and their region is often referred to America’s Heartland.
The term ‘midwest’ was originally coined in New York because the region is halfway to the opposite coast when heading directly west from from the east coast.
